These artefacts were used by Martin Hannett and Joy Division at Cargo Studios. They are currently preserved in storage for posterity for a possible future Joy Division / Hannett exhibition.

A boxed AMS delay set was a key weapon in Martin Hannett's sonic armoury. The chimes which were hit by Bernard on 'Atmosphere' were fed into the AMS delays by Martin to create the great sound effects on the final recording. Ian Curtis's vocals, Bernard Sumner's guitar, Hooky's bass and Steve's drums were recorded behind glass screens in the studio. Two such screens were put in a corner to form an 'L' shape and therefore a square booth with the walls.
