FAC 263 Round & round 12" singleRelease dateFebruary 1989 TracklistingRound & round CreditsFAC 263a (P) 1989 Factory Communications Ltd. FAC 263b (P) 1989 Factory Communications Ltd. Cover by Peter Saville Associates and Trevor Key - - The second single from New Order's first number one album was Round & round, a glorious slice of techno, which Tony Wilson liked so much he had a bet with Rob Gretton that it would make the Top Five. It didn't (it peaked at 21 in the official UK chart) and the chairman resigned. OK, it was only temporary but the event was deemed worthy of its own Factory catalogue number, FAC 253. The notorious video, shot in black and white, features a host of gorgeous models posing for the camera, shot from the shoulders up, apparently unsure of what they are supposed to be doing. The B-side, Best and Marsh, was the theme tune to the ITV show of the same name which featured legendary footballers George Best and Rodney Marsh reminiscing about the good old glory days. A limited edition of replicas of the bust featured in Peter Saville and Trevor Key's artwork were made under the name "A Lewey For New Order". A second run didn't bear this inscription but are still sought after. |

However, the 'A' run out groove states FAC-263R-A-1 and only the 'B' run-out references the DJ status, being FAC-263-DJ-B-4. Thanks to Spud and OMNY on the Cerysmatic Factory Message Board. |

FACD 263 Round & round cd singleRelease dateFebruary 1989 TracklistingRound & round (Seven Inch Version) CreditsFACD 263 Cover by Peter Saville Associates and Trevor Key - - The standard cd single features both seven- and twelve-inch versions of the title track. In addition it has the 'Instrumental Making Out Mix' of Vanishing Point, the original of which is a stand-out track on the album Technique. This track is so called because it derives from the otherwise unreleased soundtrack work Steven and Gillian did for the BBC on the show 'Making Out'. This was a gritty northern drama set in a textiles factory and featuring Margi Clarke and Keith Allen. |

FACD 263r Round & remix 3" cd singleRelease dateFebruary 1989 TracklistingRound & round (Club Mix) CreditsFACD 263r [* typo credits remixing duties to Kevin Sanderson] Cover by Peter Saville Associates and Trevor Key - - The last format to be released was the 3" cd single. This was a strange choice because the cd's smaller cousin never really took off in the UK. It features a shrunk version of the cover of FAC 263r. |
