The fact two DVD's will come out is good news! Maybe it's a good idea to also collect individuel, private, photographs of the event on such a way online that they will be avialable for a longer time under the keyword 'Factorynight - once again'. In combination with the official stuff. Maybe here? John? |
Fred [ 20th Dec 2007: 19:41 ] |
Yes, 2 DVD's should be released: one about the whole festival by LTM, one for The Names only. |
eRkATee [ 20th Dec 2007: 19:27 ] |
Hopefully all playlist-information will turn-up to update John's splendid archive. And for the amount of camera's there, many photo's should emerge. As soon as I have mine ready I will stick them somewhere on the www. and send John the link. But what about the professional video-shooting and recording? Will LTM, or others release a DVD from this event? Could be a great item. |

First of all, I would like to thank everybody who made this event such a fantastic night: the artists, the working team and all the visitors. All tickets have been sold and you were about 1,500 (but not at the same time: about 1200 for the concerts and 200-300 more for the dj sets only). I'm collecting the pictures and will buit a few galleries (we had 2 professional photographers) that will be put on my website with links to external galleries like these ones: http://picasaweb.google.com/Poison.Creeper/AFactoryNightOnceAgain http://www.zeva.be/NachtGewanD/A FACTORY NIGHT 20071215/ AFactoryNightonceagain/index.html If you have pictures you want to add to our galleries or interesting links (pictures, reviews...) please drop me an email: frederic@lefantastique.net Section 25 has posted songs to download on www.section25.co.uk |

I can only confirm what others said here. It was an excellent and very memorable night with lots of people(1500?)... I have taken quite a lot of pictures. Does any of the organisers mind me putting them up somewhere on the web? Metzgi |

The organisation of the event was "unusual" - loads of guests (like me) had the pleasure to listen Kevin Hewick in the entrance because the cloakroom doesn't have enough numbers. Crispy Ambulance & the Names made good performances. I am not able to report a setlist but both bands performed their greatest numbers (the Plateau Phase / Nightshift). Between the sets I had time to watch the very interesting small Joy Division exhibition. Especially the poster and memorabilia stuff presented from Factory Benelux was awesome. The breaks between the bands were filled by local DJ's who played only 80's independent music combined with a large video screen. This fact made the evening to a kind of timewarp. The definetely highlight to me was the Section 25 set! Quite powerful - a great mixture of old and the very new stuff - an absolutely brilliant performance. Last encore as mentioned was Temptation with Hooky on bass. Quality night - a very nice event. |
mathieu [ 17th Dec 2007: 17:23 ] |
yo, was really cool.... Section 25 + hooky for Temptation was a great moment !!! |

For you german fans: Check out www.brusselsairlines.de . I just booked Hamburg-Brussels-Hamburg (15.12., return 16.12.) for 99,84 EUR incl. all taxes and fees. That's not bad. Section 25 at Botanique was such a great gig. I just can't wait for Plan K now. Fred, you are the man ! |
Fred [ 29th Aug 2007: 19:15 ] |
Great news ! Peter Hook will be DJing during the afterparty, along with Martin Moscrop ! More exciting news to come... |
Kevin Hewick [ 21st Aug 2007: 23:58 ] |
Very sorry to hear about that Amsterdam cancellation. I can accept that many will chose Belgian beer and strawberries dipped in white chocolate over my stuff anyway - but surely they are no match against the mighty Larry Cassidy!!!! I can tell you after this saddest of summers I'm now in no mood for giving anybody a good kicking now - albeit it was meant as a symbolic one not literally .. and I'd give anything to have that man with the short attention span back.. |
Mark Rutter [ 21st Aug 2007: 18:52 ] |
Al Jarvis + partner, Nick King and myself have booked tickets for this gig today. Eurostar are offering £59 returns at the moment, going out on the Saturday morning and returning Sunday. Hopefully a few more will fancy a weekend away in Brussels. The more the merrier. Al's already dreaming about Belgian beer and strawberries covered in white chocolate!. Er, not that the artists aren't enough of an attraction on their own ;-) |
Markus [ 21st Aug 2007: 15:26 ] |
Many thanks for clearing that up Fred. Keep us posted of any developments regarding Holland. |
Fred [ 21st Aug 2007: 12:41 ] |
I can give some answers. I had this idea of Factory Night last year when I promoted the Section 25 gig in Brussels. Vin Cassidy and I discussed about it and in the next months, the idea developped, with the great help of Vin, James Nice, and Annik Honoré. I then looked for similar dates in neighbour countries to build a kind of mini-tour. For some reasons unnecessary to explain, the Melkweg date is indeed cancelled but another date in Holland is under construction. Cologne has never been confirmed. In any case, the Brussels dates is fully confirmed. Here is the programme. Concerts: Section 25, The Names, Crispy Ambulance, Kevin Hewick DJ sets: Martin Moscrop + local DJ's Exhibitions: Philippe Carly (photographs), Katja Ruge (photographs), Factory Benelux (posters and other stuff) Projections: Shadowplayers and various documents Additional things are being discussed. All details can be found here: http://www.lefantastique.net/factory/index-en.htm Initially, it was just a 'Factory Night' but when we learnt the very sad news of Tony Wilson's death, we directly decided to dedicate the event to his memory. All profits will be donated to cancer research. Tickets can be obtained on www.ticketnet.be |
Markus [ 21st Aug 2007: 11:04 ] |
According to the Melkweg site it appears that the Amsterdam gig has been cancelled :-( Anybody know why, and does that affect the Brussels & Cologne gigs?? |

Maatjes:I agree with you about Blurt, it would be interesting to see them on such a bill.I reckon I'm pretty un-Fac too, I do lots of un-Fac things these days.. These shows bring the former Factory acts involved together in a unique way, being on the same label at the same time didn't always mean that we were that close to each other.I myself never saw / met ESG, The Wake, The Names, The Distractions, OMD, Crispy Ambulance etc at the time.Even if any of us worked together it didn't always gel - eg:the ACR crowd were never that keen on me!It made more sense with Durutti Column, I used to love being with Vini and Bruce Mitchell - and, for some magical don't question it reason, SXXV - from the days of Larry, Vin ,Paul and then Jenny to Ian and Roger now, they have been very generous to me as artists and as people.. I do wonder if this gathering might get a more cynical reaction here from some than on the European mainland. There's the odd wee connection with what has become the Joy Division legend but this certainly isn't much to do with the Factory of the Hacienda. Some histories would have it that anything outside of that was short lived and faded away which just ain't true.Cerysmatic constantly features new activity from names who supposedly only did ever anything in 198wotsit, a notion which has more to do with Tony Wilson's very short attention span than the actual reality.Creatives have carried on creating, simple as that.... Anyway without my ancient Factory connection what chance does this cranky 50 year old me have of standing out against the young GAP clad designer stubble singer-songwriters of today? ( - not that I'll hear a word against James Morrison mind, I've met him and he's a genuinely nice bloke lol..) And I'm all for giving the official Wilson / Saville / Morley / Maconie version of events and their aftermath a bit of a kicking, it was - and is - OUR music and OUR lives after all.... |

Thanks for your honest and frank acccount Kevin its much apreciated and in all honesty i have to agree.Being at the tender age of 34 i missed you lads first time round but was familiar at the time through my older brother and have been a fan of a lot of Factory artists since i was around 13.The first chance i had of seeing one of the Factory outsiders was The Wake in Stoke on Trent in 1989 and it was poorly attended. Then the long wait, and eventually Crispy Ambulance surfaced in 1999 and i found out about the gig at the Band on the Wall the day after it happened. To say i was gutted is an understatement. And my comments of dismay on missing that show i placed on the CA message board made it onto the Live Cd of that gig sleeve notes ha ha.However i did see them there for the next gig and was stunned at the poor attendance in there home town and felt sorry for them they deserved better they were superb.Same again for Section25 at the No1 club and with your good self at Leicester which i enjoyed immensley by the way.I also never understood the negativity towards many Factory artists yourself included as i still think that some of this countries best music came out of it.I mean ACR surely one of the most underated bands of all time. Again thanks for your time to reply Kevin and hope to see you soon at some venue im Off to E-mither Section 25 about some gigs Lee Dunn!! Stoke on Trent!! |

I'd also like to add my voice to those asking for a UK show. Like many. I missed the early 2000's live reformation of the Crispies & would love the chance to see them live. Looks like a great line up .... err Martin, why just DJ? Will this be a bit toooo retro for the other band members?? ;-) |
maatjes kroket [ 6th Jul 2007: 08:28 ] |
Blurt would be nice on the bill too. Saw them in Amsterdam a month ago. Brilliant. But maybe they're not factory enough? |
Kevin Hewick [ 6th Jul 2007: 01:04 ] |
Lee - I got asked about doing these dates by Section 25.I don't really know anything about how they were set up.Late last year there was talk of us doing something like them in March but those plans fell through. I'm very excited about being part of this package especially as it features some of the other rather overlooked Factory acts as well.I think the talent was often there in us as much it was in those that did break through bigger and that talent has endured and evolved, very much so in the case of SXXVs new "Part Primativ" album, which shows them to still be at the height of their powers. From my own previous experiences in recent years I've found the Dutch and German audiences to be very open, very receptive concerning things like Factory and my old friend the late Adrian Borland and his band The Sound.. and very open and receptive to me even. Maybe it's just in their culture to be a bit more reverent about it - and it helps that they haven't read the one liner put downs by Stuart Maconie lol. When Section 25 asked me to do the dates here with them last year I did sometimes look at anyone over a certain age with a wee bit of trepidation - some of them must have been the same people who booed and heckled me back in the 1880s - but it was all fine.It was nice to be able to show I was still standing, still creating.I reckon that's how a lot of the former FAC-er's feel. And so yes Lee I think it would be great idea if this revue - or some alternative version of it - did a date or three in the UK but I dunno who has the say so over that getting to happen. |
Lee [ 4th Jul 2007: 21:59 ] |
A superb idea but whose brainwave was it to not include England in these dates.I probebly speak for many by saying i would be bitterly dissapointed if at least one date was not played here.I know Kevin Hewick reads this message board and if you see this Kev could you shed some light on it for me please Cheers Lee!!!! |
